There are many ways in which organizations can rise to today’s challenges through innovation. AI can be leveraged in many industries and sectors to contribute to managing sustainability. These use cases include: AI-infused clean distributed energy grids, precision agriculture, sustainable supply chains, environmental monitoring and enforcement, and enhanced weather and disaster prediction and response. Research by PwC UK, models the economic impact of AI’s environmental application across: agriculture, water, energy and transport. The data indicates that AI (environmental) applications can contribute up to $5.2 trillion USD by 2030. The application model also indicates that AI has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 4% in 2030. These models represent just one major piece where AI can have a powerful impact on the world and the battle in combating major climate changes.
Protecting our planet is essential to ensure the survival of humanity and by extension, our communities and businesses. All organizations have the opportunity to reframe their approach and efforts to fit that agenda — without increasing costs in the long term.
